Nicklaus, Player to headline Sports Commission breakfast event

Golf legends Gary Player, left, and Jack Nicklaus will headline the Greater Columbus Sports Commission's next Morning Sports Report in October, where they'll promote the upcoming Presidents Cup at Nicklaus' Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Nicklaus and Player have been instrumental in boosting interest in the Presidents Cup over the years, serving as team captains multiple times. Their decision to declare a tie at the 2003 Presidents Cup as darkness loomed over a sudden death playoff has become a part of golf history.

The Presidents Cup is held every other year, matching a team of top U.S. pros against a squad of international players selected from all corners of the world except Europe. Next year?s event will be held at Muirfield Village from Sept. 30 through Oct. 6, boosting the area?s economy and putting Central Ohio in the international media spotlight.

Like past Morning Sports Reports, this year?s event is expected to draw a mix of sports celebrities, team executives and just plain fans who like to be part of the action. I?ve been to most of the past eight Morning Sports Reports, and my favorite was two years ago when the headliners were Ohio State University?s?

Tickets start at $70 for an individual seat at this year?s event. You can click here for more information.
